Today we went to our third church service, I met the classmates for the third class, we stayed at our third campground… no, wait, the 6 th… well, it was our third long-term campground.
Church was the local Christian Reformed church, the denomination I grew up in. Thankfully its service time was as published, so at least we weren’t late. To put things in perspective, we could have come an hour late and still enjoyed an hour of worship, but we certainly got our money’s worth. I noticed now accustomed I’ve become to a liturgical service, as I missed many of the things I’ve gotten used to. The sermon was long, but the message was good. The passage was “those who are first will be last and those who are last will be first; if you want to be first in my kingdom you must be a slave.” In this election year, vote as a servant; put the greater good and the needs of others before your own agenda or financial desires. There was a youth group from Whitinsville visiting, which was ironic. (We were still from farther away—by 40 miles!)
After church we went back to camp and worked on homework for the afternoon. There wasn’t a “real” spot open for us so we had to go in the overflow section, between the swingset, a parking lot, and some abandoned RV’s. For dinner we went to a bbq at school and met the profs and classmates for my third class. We only knew one other student, Callan, who had been in our dino camp. The food was good, Ollie was a hit, and the profs were nice, so we closed down the party.
Seasons, Again.
