It was 8:45 on Monday and we had everything we needed for our all-summer road trip. Everything, Alan said, but an on-time departure. But that's OK--it's our vacation and our honeymoon, and we'll take it at whatever speed we need.

Step one: Rte. 2 W to I-95 S.
Alan took the first shift. OK, Alan's taking EVERY shift. The new truck has standard transmission. I'm sure I'll master it ... by the END of the trip.
Olli has two places to ride in the truck--in the cab, a small cat-sized carrier and in the back, a LARGE (think German-Shepherd size) crate with a custom-fitted shelf Alan made on Sunday afternoon. We were going to start him inside with us, but he seemed to need his litter box, which is in the large crate. At our first pit stop (maybe 10:30), he had plenty to say about it. On the plus side, he was much happier inside for the rest of the trip. He did a lot of sleeping.

It rained a lot in Massachusetts, but by lunchtime in Worcester, NY it was beautiful. We had dinner in Jamestown, NY, birthplace of Lucille Ball (at the historic McDonalds).
We followed the sun west and
it was light for SO long!
It finally started setting in Ohio.
We got to our first stop, my sister Elise's house in Dexter, Michigan at 12:25, but we had all day today to hang out.

The truck at Elise's ............... Alan and Owen playing dobro ... Alan and Olli explore the backyard
So we've made it through two days, and I've made it through my first blog post. We'll see how it goes from here.

Cutest moment: Alan & Cara reading with Lottie & Owen.
